Studio Policies & Procedures

Tuition

Tuition is charged on the 25th of the previous month via credit card or ACH processing. All families are required to keep either a credit card or ACH information on file for tuition payments. A $20 fee will be assessed for insufficient funds or late payments (made after the 5th of the month). Private lessons (outside of recurring Company privates) for the preceding month will be charged on the 25th of that month (for example, March tuition and February private lessons will both be charged on February 25th).

Tuition is calculated based on the number of weeks in the season. Season is from August through May. Tuition is not prorated for pre-planned studio closures.

Registration Fee

A registration fee of $25 per dancer will be assessed at initial registration. This fee will be charged annually. This fee may be discounted for returning dancers and/or early registration.

Discounts

A 10% discount will be applied to the second and each subsequent student in the same family. Dancers who apply and are approved as assistants will also receive a discount.

Waiver

Each class participant must have a waiver on file. Dancers without a waiver on file will not be permitted to participate.

Withdrawing from a Class

DI operates on a full-year schedule, from August to Mid-June. Dancers wishing to withdraw before then must give written notice before the 20th of the month. Dancers may continue through the end of the month they are enrolled in. Refunds are not given for partial months. Access the drop form here.

Closures

DI will primarily follow Westfield-Washington (Westfield, Indiana) school district for breaks. Drop-in classes may be offered over breaks for an additional drop-in fee. All closures for breaks are listed in our studio calendar as well as listed in our weekly emails. In the event of weather-related closures, classes for ages 8 and above will continue to meet virtually. Primary and Creative Movement classes will have the option to make up on a different day in the event of a weather closure.

Make Up Policy

We ask that students notify the studio prior to an absence whenever possible. In the event of an absence, a student may either make up the class at another time the class is offered (if that class has openings), or may make up in one level below their own. All virtual DI classes are recorded. If a dancer misses class and needs to make up, the parent should reach out to a DI director, who will provide a download link to the missed class. Company students who must maintain a certain attendance percentage must submit a video to the team director showing three of the exercises taught in the class for correction and as credit for making up the class.

Tuition is calculated based on 37 weeks in the full season and is divided into 10 monthly payments for the convenience of our families. Tuition is not pro-rated due to pre-planned studio closures.

Private Lesson Policy

Private and semi-private lessons are booked directly with the instructor and may be held virtually or in-person at our studio. In-person private lessons must be scheduled around our existing group classes. Private lessons are $30 for ½ hour for one student, $15 each for two students, or $10 each for three students.

Performances

Dance Innovations presents two professional productions each year - DI Goes Nuts in December and a Spring Recital in June. These performances are an opportunity for all DI dancers to gain experience on stage and show family and friends all that they have accomplished during the year. However, these performances are not mandatory. Registration opens in August and January so that students may participate in each performance.

DI recognizes that our families are busy, so we try to limit outside rehearsals as much as possible. Dancers will learn their choreography in class, and there will always be a dress rehearsal either in the theatre or in studio before the show. Additional rehearsals may be called at the discretion of the directors, and we will notify families of dates and times as soon as possible.

Performance fees are $50 per family and help us to cover the costs associated with facility rental, technical support, and administrative support. The performance fee also includes two complementary tickets to the performance. Costumes are either rented from the studio (DI Goes Nuts) or purchased by the family (spring recital). These fees are due with the performance fee at the time of registration.

Registration closing dates are firm. This allows our staff to have enough time to finish choreography and complete formations and staging before the performance day. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Tickets for performances are sold through the Tututix platform and will be available approximately 6 weeks before the performance date. Tickets are general admission; we do not use assigned seating.

Dancers not participating in the performances will still learn the choreography with their class as part of ongoing training. They will not be made to feel “left out” in any way!

Class Etiquette

DI Dancers are expected to comport themselves with dignity, humility, and respect at all times in the studio. Students are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and ready for class

  • Be in the appropriate dress code for each class, including the correct attire, shoes, and hair

  • Show respect for their space, instructors, and fellow students

  • Not talk between exercises unless they have raised a hand with a question

  • Give their best effort in each class

  • Say thank you to the teacher after each class

  • Say “thank you” when given a correction and immediately apply it

  • Greet the front desk when arriving and leaving

  • Wait until the instructor invites them into the studio before entering

  • Ask permission to join a class in progress if they arrive late
