Frequently Asked Questions

Wait - Are you virtual or in person?

BOTH!

As of April 12, 2021, we are offering all of our classes simultaneously in person (from our studio at 110 E. Main St., Westfield, IN) and online. Be in person one week and virtual the next—whatever is most convenient for you!

How do I sign up?

IT’S SO SIMPLE!

We recommend starting with a free trial in your desired class! You can request your trial class here (trials will re-open for summer 2024). After that, you can choose to enroll for the full season (this is what we recommend—you get the best deal!) or you can purchase a class card to drop in. You can choose your program in our online portal here.

What age do classes start?

WE OFFER CLASSES FOR AGES 3 AND UP.

Beginning with creative movement for ages 3, our classes then progress in length, style, and intensity all the way to the pre-professional/professional level and adult classes.

Our classes operate on a full-year schedule, from August to June, just like school. Our age cutoff is the end of October, and we recommend that your dancer stay enrolled in the same level for the full year. For example, if your dancer turns 5 in December, we will recommend that he or she stay in Creative Movement for the full year then move up to Primary in the fall.

I’m an adult who wants to dance. What classes are for me?

WE OFFER MULTIPLE CLASSES FOR ADULTS!

If you’re a beginner or haven’t danced in a while, we recommend trying out our Open level classes. There is no maximum age on these classes. If you’re more advanced or are looking for more of a challenge, we’d be happy to have you in any of our Academy classes. Chat with your teacher for a level recommendation!

What’s the dress code?

IT DEPENDS ON THE CLASS.

All classes have a dress code. Preschool, Primary, and Academy classes require a class leotard, tights, and correct shoes. Class leotards can be purchased at the studio or through our online store here. Teen/Adult classes should wear movement-friendly clothing that allows the instructor to see the lines of the body. We didn’t cover all of our class offerings here, so if you have more questions, view the full dress code here.

I take classes at another studio. Can I still take your classes?

WE ENCOURAGE DANCE EDUCATION IN ALL FORMS.

We absolutely encourage students to expand their dance education however they see fit, whether in a physical studio or online. We are happy to serve as a supplement to your training or allow you to supplement your training with other instructors. We believe in creating well-rounded dancers!

Can I try a class before I sign up?

OF COURSE!

You can always trial a class with no commitment. You can request one here (trials will reopen for summer 2024).

Do I need a studio in my house?

OF COURSE NOT!

All you need to take classes virtually at DI is:

  • A device with ZOOM downloaded

  • An internet connection

  • A space that is safe to dance in

While we do recommend some pieces of equipment for certain classes, it is not required. We do require that you have a video set up so that the instructor can see you during class. This is so the instructor can see your progress and offer corrections!

How much are classes? Do you offer discounts?

TUITION IS BASED ON TIME IN CLASS.

Tuition is based on the total number of hours per week in class. Sibling discounts are available (10% for additional siblings) as well as assistant discounts. Please contact us for more details. Tuition for the current session can be found here.

If you are looking to drop in to classes, we offer a single-class card, or you can purchase class cards in 5 or 10 class increments. Prices for class cards vary based on class length. Class cards can be purchased through the front desk.
